I need to find a substitute for viton o-rings. It's a room temperature
application that needs to pull a light vacuum while being very compressive
(soft and pliable). The x-section profile can be square or round. Any
suggestions appreciated.

That leaves you pretty much with either Neoprene or Buna-N. Any o-ring vendor
should have all three kinds.
